Old Town Village is a combined single family and condominium community located in the southwest quadrant of Old Town Alexandria. The community was developed on the site of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad yard built prior to the Civil War. The railroad yard featured the first railroad roundhouse in Alexandria, a large circular building used by railroads for servicing locomotives. To commemorate the heritage of the area, the developers of the community built a replica “Roundhouse” which today serves as the clubhouse and recreational center. Just outside the entrance to “The Roundhouse” is a street clock typical of one that might be found in the 19th Century. These unique features along with attractive, landscaped courtyards and brick sidewalks give Old Town Village a distinctive character reflecting the history of Alexandria. Old Town Village was established in 1998 and is made up of 155 townhomes adjacent to 125 condominiums. The homes are designed in Victorian, Georgian, and Colonial architecture similar to the style of many historic residences found throughout Old Town. Residents enjoy the use of numerous amenities including a clubhouse and recreational center, swimming pool, bike path, picnic area, and tot lot. The community is located to the southwest of the intersection of South Henry St. and Duke Street and within walking distance are the following convenient locations:
Also, Old Town Village is conveniently located just a short distance from the Capital Beltway and the newly rebuilt Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Commuting into Arlington and DC has also improved with the expanded lanes on the newly rebuilt US 1 (Monroe St.) bridge connecting Old Town to Del Ray and access has been improved from Slaters Lane over to the George Washington Parkway.
